Tchaikovsky Competition

Last week the International Tchaikovsky announced it's participants for the 2011 competition. The competition has four categories, they are as follows; Piano, Violin, Cello and Voice. So baring in mind this is an 'international' competition, yet not one musician from the UK across all four categories was announced as a participant.
This set alarm bells ringing in my head, I wonder, is it because no musicians from the UK applied? Is it because none of the applicants passed the pre screening? I find it hard to believe that out off all the high standard musicians in the UK who have been through the top music colleges in this country not one of them has either bothered applying or been accepted. I just hope this isn't a sign that classical music in this country is dying. See the link below for more:
